We praise the Lord for all He has provided this month! Rejoice with us as we share all the good works He has done:A Successful and Restful Fall Retreat
Last month, we asked you to pray for Fall Retreat (October 8-10). We are happy to say it was amazing! We had about a hundred students attend, including several from Langston University and Rose State College.
Our students enjoyed a weekend of fellowship, games, and worship. Pastor Brian Key (from Redeemer Fellowship Kansas City) spoke three messages from the book of Colossians. It was a treat for all of our students (and staff) to hear theologically rich, dynamic sermons.
It was a powerful weekend to see OKState and Langston students connect reading the Word, talking in discussion groups, playing Football guys vs. girls, and dancing in ridiculous costumes. Our partnership with Langston is stronger than ever, and Pastor Key remarked it was one of the most unifying cross-cultural ministry experiences he's ever been involved with.
Savanna, one of our sophomore leaders who came to Christ last year, put it this way: "Other than all of the fun and truth that happened, I got to dig deeper into my own faith: from leading a group that weekend in talks, to growing more in how to pray out loud with and over people, and building my thankfulness for Him in my quiet times. I’m more than someone new to my faith after this weekend. I am a stronger leader, stronger follower, and I have stronger connections now than I did before all thanks to Cru’s Fall Retreat."
Fall Retreat 2021 is in the books! We also asked you to pray for our Summer Missions Informational. We rented out a local restaurant and had around fifty students in attendance! It was a life-giving event, and it surfaced over 15 students very interested in our mission trips.
As COVID cases decline and traveling restrictions let up, we are hopeful to send students overseas on spring break and summer trips! As you know, Oklahoma State Cru sends college students and staff to Ozark Lakes in Branson, Missouri and Bologna, Italy.
Bologna, Italy is a strategic place to send missionaries. The University of Bologna is the oldest university in the world, and has a whopping 100,000 students. On the outside, it looks to be a place of spiritual abundance. However, it's a place of spiritual poverty. The spiritual soil is hard and rocky, difficult to plant seeds and see growth. We believe God uses prayer and His people to fulfill His good purpose, and we want to partner with Him in that.
We are excited to report: not only are Walt and I going to Ozark Lakes next summer, but we're leading the spring break trip to Bologna!
Please pray for favor with the Italian government and travel agencies as we lock in passports and airfare (we've got over 10 students' names so far!). Pray for students to be obedient to the call of missions! God doesn't call the equipped; He equips the called!
Finally, now that Greek students have much more free time, pray for favor in Walt's ministry with fraternity guys in this crucial month!
We are praying God helps many in this room go mission with Cru this summer! “Let me say for your encouragement that a promise from God is worth just as much as a fulfilment. A promise brings you into direct contact with God, so honor Him by trusting the promise and obeying Him.” - Andrew Murray
